The full name of the trust is "Assemblies of God, Pentecostal Church, Emmanuel Christian Fellowship". The name of the Church is commonly known as "Emmanuel Christian Fellowship" and for convenience is usually shortened to "E.C.F.". Prior to 1987, Emmanuel Christian Fellowship achieved Charitable Status under the standard Trust Deed of the Assemblies of God. The A.O.G. Trust deed did not permit the holding of property for a purpose other than for a place of worship. In 1987 the Fellowship required to purchase a manse and a new Trust Deed was drawn up, in order to accommodate this requirement. This Deed was dated 23 September 1987 and registered in Edinburgh on 23 October 1987. A letter from the Inland Revenue Claims Branch in South Trinity Road, Edinburgh, dated 14 December 1987 confirmed that under Section 360 of the Income and Corporation Act 1970, the aforementioned Deed created a charitable trust, subject to the income being applicable and being applied to charitable purposes. The reference number allocated was ED428/87/RJI. The Trust has now been allocated a Scottish Charity Reference Number, which is SC000147. |
