To all our Sefton Supporters
I just thought you would be interested in some information about the 10th
Anniversary Celebration Day we had recently for the Helga Mosey Children’s
Home.
We had an absolutely fantastic day, which was really a celebration of
thanksgiving. We had chosen as our theme “Great is Thy Faithfulness”, and it
really was a celebration of the goodness of God. All the preparations came
together beautifully on the day and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Over
200 people attended, ranging from Social Workers, friends and supporters of
the children’s home, old staff members and Pastors. Most special for me
however, was seeing a large number of children who had previously stayed in
the home attending the day with their parents. Look how beautiful Michelle,
Brenda and Marie are now! (see above)
We had a celebration service in the Fire Centre to start the day. The
Aunties took part with a timbrel display, and the children also took part
with a dance. All the Aunties were presented with certificates of
appreciation, and one of our Social Workers, Marilyn, who has worked at the
Home for 9 years and 8 months, was presented with a watch. The Director of
the Social Work Department in our Region also spoke, and expressed her
thanks that the Philippines had been chosen as the place to build the home,
and described it as, “A Centre of Excellence”.
We had written messages from Tony & Esther Payne and also from John & Lisa
Mosey.
After the service everyone ate. We had caterers in to set everything up and
prepare the food, so it looked a bit like a wedding! After the food there
was time for chatting and catching up. Lots of people went to see the
children’s home, and 2 little girls who had left the home 2 years ago ran to
their bedroom and jumped into what used to be their beds! All the children
swam in the afternoon, and eventually everyone went home.
It was a very special day, and now we look forward to the future. The Lord
has done so much in the past 10 years, and I still marvel at the miracles we
see daily. Please continue to pray for the ministry of the Helga Mosey
Children’s Home.
The staff and children value your prayers, as do we as a family.
Thanks, Mary
Hi there here is some news from me too!
Things are progressing well with the Cornerstone church, both with the team
and with our preparations. We are getting ready for our first ever service
on August 29th photos and report in next newsletter!
Some good news. Many of the parents from the school were disappointed that
the church did not start in May as planned, so we decided to start meeting
with them on a Sunday morning. We have only been going for 2 weeks, and each
week I have preached a simple gospel message. Every one of the 12 adults who
are attending have given their lives to the Lord! Their 12 children who come
are also learning more and more each week about the Lord! Praise the Lord -
the fields are ready to harvest!
Among those who responded to the gospel was the lovely man, Larry, who has
Leukaemia. We spoke about him in our last newsletter. His daughter Joyce
attends the school here. Please continue to pray for him and his family, and
if you feel the Lord wants you to help financially, he would really
appreciate it. He has to have treatment every 2 weeks for 6 months and it is
30 pounds per session. This is not much to us, but to him it is a mountain.
Things in Bible School are going well. The students are doing excellently
and we have been able to buy them all a pair of shoes, SBTC uniform,
trousers or skirt and shirt or blouse with the gifts that some of you have
given. They look great as they go to evangelism and weekend ministry. Thank
you so much to those who have helped them. Your giving will not be in vain.
Yours, for a mighty harvest,
Mark
