This is the latest news from Rani Gabriel (12th April 2004):

The ground and the first floor of the orphanage building is completed.  Furniture, such as adequate bunk beds, dining tables and benches, study tables and chairs and shelves for storage, have still to be obtained.  Due to the frequent power cuts, an electrical generator is also required.

The construction of the school building, which is adjacent to the Orphanage has started and the first slab (roof) is completed.  It is proposed that at least the ground floor of the school building will be completed in time for the school to start functioning by 1st June 2004.

All the children will be moving to Pavel, to their new building by the 25th of April.  At the time of writing, the children are busy sitting their exams.  Many of the children are currently suffering from colds and coughs, tuberculosis, stomach problems and as a result are quite weak.  They will have to undergo some medical tests before moving to Pavel

Once they move there, the building will accommodate the boys sleeping quarters will be on the ground floor of then Orphanage, with the girls sleeping quarters on the first floor. This arrangement will be of a temporary nature as there will eventually be a separate facility for the girl's dormitory.

Negotiations are currently under way for acquiring a piece of land close to the existing orphanage.

Here are some recent photos of the building construction
